Switzerland is a country that sits atop a mountainous region where most of its cities and towns are actually situated on top of hills and mountains. It is no wonder that it also has some of the best ski and snowboard locations anywhere in the world. Skiing and Snowboarding in Switzerland are the most popular activities in the country.
While France and Austria are well known for their skiing and have their particular strengths, nothing really beats the majestic and dramatic mountain scenery that Switzerland has to offer.
Switzerland has some of the most impressive ski slopes in the world not to mention its share of beautiful mountain-top villages and restaurants than anywhere else.
However, skiing and snowboarding in Switzerland can be very pricey and has some of the most expensive resorts compared to other countries in the Eurozone. But this does not keep away the tourists because of the great beauty they have to offer.
Best Places to go Skiing and Snowboarding in Switzerland
Villars – Best for Beginners
If you’re a beginner and it’s your first time to try on skis and especially if you are unfamiliar with Swiss ski resorts, then Villars is the place to try out. The slopes in this resort are designed to be slow-paced. This is perfect for beginners so that they can take time to practice their turns in an atmosphere that won’t force or pressure them to learn. Always learn at your own pace.
Villars also offers a variety of options and choices when it comes to ski schools. These schools are great for people who have never tried to ski or for those who are trying to get better at it. This place will be great to learn and get better in no time.
This resort also gives you a great view as it rests on a sunny hillside with a great view of the Rhone Valley all the way to the Portes du Soleil. Note: if your skiing or snowboarding, they have a great pro shop here. I plan on picking up a ski coat and maybe another snowboarding jacket there for my wife.
